Moraine State Park in Portersville, PA provides the backdrop for the Moraine Adventure Race! Perfect for the the novice and veteran racer alike - get ready for a fun, fast day in the woods and on the water. Racers will compete in 4-hour sprint or 8-hour formats while navigating with a topographical map and compass to locate checkpoints placed throughout the area. Portions of the race will include trekking (navigation on foot), mountain biking, and paddling. Mountain biking will be on varied terrain including smooth flats, hills, gravel roads and more technical rocky trails. Paddling will be flat water on Lake Arthur.
Check-In: 0700 Saturday Moraine Outdoor Center, Davis Hollow Raod
Start Time: 0800 Saturday
Finish Cutoff: 0400 Saturday
Post Race awards and food to follow shortly after race finish.
Included: Maps, clue sheets, race shirts, kayaks, paddles, PFDs, awards, SWAG, post-race celebration.
Mandatory gear list INDIVIDUAL: Rescue whistle, emergency space blanket, knife with 3” blade, mountain bike, mountain bike helmet, waterproof breathable jacket (gortex or nylon), backpack (minimum 12L capacity), hands-free headlamp(recommended)
Mandatory Gear list per TEAM: Waterproof map case, compass, fully-charged cellular phone in waterproof case, bike repair kit, first aid kit**, 50’ rescue line/throw line.
Recommended Gear List: Sunscreen, sunglasses, waterproof bags, waterproof document protector, Vaseline, foot powder, tow line, cash, outside maps are authorized, waterproof bladder (at least 70 oz. recommended), duct tape.
**First aid kit: First aide must be Adventure Med kit 2.0 or equivalent.
4-hour race fee: $60 per racer
8-hour race fee: $100 per racer
